The U.K. labor gap is widening, according to a new report.
By 2022, Business in the Community says the U.K. economy will have 14.5 million vacant jobs — and only 7 million young people to fill them.
The report, supported by the Centre for Ageing Better, estimates that if half of the one million older workers age 50 to 64 who want to work but currently aren’t employed re-entered the workforce, GDP could increase by up to £88 billion a year.
Business in the Community made several recommendations in the report to encourage employers to retain older workers, including introducing more flexible hours and tackling age bias. For more information on potential engagement methods, click here.
